The Federal High Court (FHC) will commence its Christmas vacation on December 19, with court sittings scheduled to resume across all judicial divisions on January 7, 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the court’s Director of Information, Dr. Catherine Christopher.
She said the notice, titled “2025 Christmas Vacation and Roster for Vacation Judges,” was issued in line with a circular duly signed by the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho.
“The Federal High Court hereby issues notice of its 2025 Christmas Vacation as well as the approved roster of vacation judges,”
“The vacation, which begins on Friday, December 19, 2025, is in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended). Court sittings are expected to resume on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
“During the vacation period, the core judicial divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt will remain open to attend to urgent matters. Only cases related to the enforcement of fundamental rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and matters of urgent national importance will be entertained.
“For the Abuja division, Justices Emeka Nwite and Musa Liman will serve as vacation judges; Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac Dipeolu will preside in the Lagos division.
” In Port Harcourt, Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed will be on duty, while Justice Folashade Giwa-Ogunbanjo will serve in the Enugu judicial division.
“Justice Tsoho extended warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all judges of the Federal High Court,”the statement read.
