The newly sworn-in Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Hon. Muhammad Sanni Gambo, has reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the party for victory ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office at the PDP State Secretariat in Lokoja, Hon. Gambo described Kogi as a traditional PDP stronghold and called on members to unite and work collectively to restore the party’s dominance in the state.

He said his emergence as chairman was a collective victory for all party faithful, expressing optimism that the PDP would reclaim power in Kogi State as it did in the past.

“I consider my emergence as chairman a victory for all. Working together with renewed vigor and focus, we will not only take back Lugard House but also contribute to returning PDP to Aso Rock in 2027,” he declared.

Hon. Gambo appreciated the leaders and elders of the PDP both at home and in the diaspora for their unwavering support, especially during what he described as a trying period for the party. He also lauded the judiciary for upholding justice, describing it as “the last hope of the common man.”

He assured members that he had already developed a blueprint to reposition the party, promising to run an open-door administration that would welcome ideas and initiatives aimed at strengthening the PDP in the state.

“As chairman, I will lead from the front and confront challenges head-on. I pledge my total commitment and steadfastness in taking Kogi PDP to an enviable height,” he said.

Hon.Gambo expressed confidence that the party’s return would bring renewed hope and progress to the people.

He revealed that several former members who left the party had signaled their readiness to return, asduring that discussions were ongoing with members of other political parties who had also indicated interest in defecting to PDP.

“To my executive members and elders of our great party, I seek your cooperation. I cannot do it alone. Together, we will rebuild this party and restore the people’s confidence,” he urged.

Hon. Gambo appealed to aggrieved members to forgive past grievances and join hands with him in charting a new path for the PDP in Kogi State.

He commended former Governors Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada for their steadfastness, and praised Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for her exemplary representation, describing her as “a shining light and a beacon of hope for the party.”

He appreciated all PDP members and well-wishers who stood by him throughout out his struggle for justice, saying ,”I assure you that my team and I will hit the ground running to make Kogi PDP the envy of all.”

Our correspondent reports that Hon. Gambo’s swearing is sequel to a judgement by a Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, which affirmed him as the Kogi State People’s Democratic Party Chairman and ordered his immediate swearing in.

Earlier while delivering a consequential judgement, in suit no. FRC,/LKJ/CS/39/2024, Justice Isah A. Danshan of the Federal High Court, Lokoja, declared Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo as the duly Elected Chairman of Kogi State PDP, pointing out that nature abhors vacuum.

The Judge ordered all the necessary security agencies to ensure the immediate swearing in of the Chairman, compelled the National leadership of the PDP, other concerned authorities to recognize Hon. Gambo as the duly elected Chairman of Kogi PDP.

Our correspondent gathered that Hon. Gambo finished second in the last August 31st, 2024 Congress of the PDP while the alleged winner in that election, Enemona Anyebe, was said to have been earlier barred from contesting in the Congress.

The judge, after noting the facts on the INEC result sheets and acknowledging that the party had maintained its zoning arrangement, declared Hon. Muhammad Sanni Gambo, who polled the majority of valid votes,as the duly elected Chairman of the Kogi State PDP.”

Justice Danshan dismissed the suit of joinder by Tony Amego, who sought to be declared as winner by reasons of Micro zoning as null and void, said his suit lacks merit and undemocratic.

Hon.Gambo, described the judgement as a no victor no vanquish, pointing out that his “victory is for all.”
