The Chairman of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC), Engr. Mohammed Jibrin Imam, has announced that the commission has completed the distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Imam made this known while briefing journalists, stakeholders, and security agencies on Thursday at the NSIEC headquarters in Tunga, Minna.
He explained that all non-sensitive materials had earlier been dispatched to the 25 Local Government Electoral Officers (EOs), while the distribution of sensitive materials was carried out later to prevent unforeseen logistical challenges.
According to him, the materials are being distributed to 4,950 polling units and 274 wards across the 25 local government areas for both chairmanship and councillorship elections.
The NSIEC chairman assured that all constitutional and procedural requirements were strictly followed to ensure transparency, noting that no complaints had been recorded from political parties, security agencies, or election observers.
He urged all political actors—candidates, parties, and supporters—to uphold the peace accord they signed and to conduct themselves responsibly during the polls. Imam reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to providing a level playing field for all participants and to addressing any legitimate concerns that may arise.
While appreciating stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding, he called for continued collaboration to ensure a credible, peaceful, and widely acceptable local government election in Niger State.
