The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, has called on Nigerians to rekindle the spirit of patriotism and embrace the enduring ideals of education and public service to drive economic empowerment, inclusive growth, and sustainable national development.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite made the call in Abuja when she received members of the Committee for the 6th Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Annual Memorial Lecture, led by its Chairman and former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.

The Minister described the late Dr. Azikiwe as a timeless symbol of patriotism, education, and public service, urging Nigerians, especially leaders, to uphold his principles as a foundation for inclusive and equitable progress.

“Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s ideals of patriotism, education, and public service remain timeless. It is our duty, as leaders of today, to translate those ideals into economic empowerment, inclusive growth, and opportunities for all Nigerians,” she said.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Finance to sound fiscal management and sustainable prosperity, Dr. Uzoka-Anite noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is anchored on fostering inclusive economic growth that benefits every Nigerian.

“Recognitions like this strengthen our resolve to serve even more diligently,” she added, while expressing appreciation to President Tinubu, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Zenith Bank Chairman Jim Ovia, and all Nigerians for their support and confidence.

She commended the organizing committee for preserving the legacy of national icons and promoting intellectual discourse around leadership, governance, and nation-building.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu emphasized the importance of unity as the bedrock of national progress, noting that Nigeria’s diversity should remain a source of strength rather than division.

He explained that the Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Award is reserved for outstanding individuals whose leadership and service have significantly impacted their communities and the nation at large.

“The nomination of Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite was both unanimous and well-deserved, considering her integrity, professionalism, and contributions to Nigeria’s financial sector,” Aliyu said.

He disclosed that the upcoming Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Annual Memorial Lecture and Award Ceremony is scheduled for November 2025.
