Members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Contributory Pension Scheme (NUPCPS), have embarked on fervent prayers, invoking God’s mercy and intervention for the recovery of the ailing Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun.
Our correspondent reports that the move followed an advice by the National Chairman of the union, Comrade Sylva Nwaiwu, who on Monday,urged members, nationwide, to pray for the minister’s healing.
In response, several pensioners offered heartfelt prayers, expressing faith in divine restoration.
Mrs. Florence Olajide prayed: “May God Almighty have mercy on our dear Minister of Finance, Chief Wale Edun. I wish you a quick recovery and renewed strength to continue your good service to humanity.”
Another member, Mr. Eugene Audu Adi, added: “May the Almighty God heal our Minister of Finance. Any evil hand against his health be destroyed in Jesus’ name. Let his recovery come speedily.”
Mrs. Florence Onwudiachi also joined in the prayers, saying: “May Almighty God, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, grant him divine healing and a speedy recovery in Jesus Christ’s mighty name.”
For Zainabu Yusuf, another pensioner,her prayer was: “May Almighty Allah keep you for your family, for Nigeria, and for us. Our prayers will always cover you, and you will receive perfect healing in God’s name.”
Yet another member, Billky Bose, offered a prayer of faith: “God is our Healer and Deliverer; He will restore your health and save you by the power in the name of Jesus.”
Similarly, Catherine Ashehaemo prayed: “Honourable Minister, you are healed in Jesus’ name. You will not die but live to declare the glory of God. May the Almighty guide your doctors and perfect your treatment. We look forward to welcoming you back in full health.”
Our correspondent recalls that, Comr.Nwaiwu, in his statement to members of the union,via their social media platform, said,” The Honourable Minister (Wale Edun), like his Principal, His Excellently, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, has remained a Godly man and a beacon of hope with unreserved passion for the well-being of Nigerian senior citizens and all Nigerian citizens.
“As senior citizens, let us all bend our knees in prayer of faith and cry out to the Almighty God in our closet and our various prayer houses across all states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, for divine intervention and quick recovery of our dear Honourable Minister (Wale Edun).”
According to,Punch report which quoted presidency on Monday, Edun is recovering in his Abuja residence,adding that there was no plans for his replacement.
Meanwhile, the union’s leadership has expressed optimism that CPS retirees will begin receiving their long-awaited arrears of their allowances before the end of October 2025, provided no technical hitches arise.
