In a heartwarming act of generosity and love for humanity, the Solomon Ladi Boro Education Endowment Fund (SLBF) has disbursed ₦1 million to support nine indigent students of Ogori origin, across various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Our correspondent reports that the financial assistance, presented in honour of the late Solomon Ladi Boro, one of the illustrious sons of Ogori land,is aimed at helping the beneficiaries overcome financial hurdles that threaten their academic dreams.
Each of the nine students received ₦100,000 to aid their studies,a gesture that many described as timely and life-changing.
The recipients include: Barnabas Omolaiye, Philip Mike-Boro, Wisdom Adegbola, Taiye Ozomoge, Abiodun Faith Bamanosi, Eunice Olufunmilayo Monday, and Osebequin Rachael, all of the Federal University, Lokoja.
Others are; Jennifer Bamanosi Mosugu of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, and Ayo Bose of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba.
The beneficiaries were selected from churches within the Anglican Communion in Ogori, the hometown of the late Solomon Ladi Boro, renowned for his passion for education and philanthropy.
The event, which took place at the Catheral Church of St Peter,Ogori,formed part of activities marking the first anniversary of Solomon’s passing in 2024 .
It is to ensure continuity which the Boro family has pledged to sustain the fund with an annual contribution of ₦500,000, reaffirming their commitment to keeping Solomon’s legacy alive.
Speaking during the presentation, the head of the family, Mr. Emmanuel Bolaji Boro, expressed deep gratitude to the Education Committee of the Anglican Diocese of Ogori-Magongo, under the supervision of Venerable (Rtd) Edward Makafan Adegbola, for their transparent and diligent administration of the fund.
He emphasized that the selection process was completely free of family influence, reflecting the true spirit of fairness and compassion that Solomon embodied in his lifetime.
“This initiative is not just about money. It’s about keeping Solomon’s passion for education alive. He was always ready to help others, and this fund ensures that his light continues to shine through these young people,”Boro said.
He urged those who are yet to benefit to remain hopeful, assuring them that the SLBF has come to stay and will continue to uplift deserving students in the years ahead.
