The Olu of Apata, Oba Frederick Balogun, has pledged to provide more purposeful leadership and drive development in his domain as he marks his 11th anniversary on the throne.

The traditional ruler made the pledge in his royal anniversary message to the people of Apata Kingdom in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Our correspondent reports that Oba Balogun, who was recently appointed a member of the Governing Council of the Nigeria–Korea Friendship Institute (NKFI) by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, ascended the throne of his forebears on October 7, 2014, amid pomp and celebration.

Reflecting on his reign, the royal father described his 11-year stewardship in Apata-Ipatun as “divine, tasking, and richly garnished with lessons of divine direction,” adding that it has been both gracious and successful.

He expressed gratitude to God for granting him the opportunity and grace to lead his people in peace and good health.

“I am deeply grateful to God, my wife and children, the Olu-Lagedu Royal Dynasty, the council members, sons and daughters of Apata-Ipatun,both at home and abroad, and the people of Ipatun Kingdom, Apata/Obajana, for their unwavering support,” he said.

The Oba also appreciated the Kogi State Government under Governor Ahmed Ododo, his deputy, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State,Chief of Staff, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Lokoja Local Government Chairman for their continued support.

He further acknowledged the Chairman of Lokoja Traditional Council, the paramount ruler of Oworoland, and friends of the kingdom for their roles in making his journey on the throne memorable.

Oba Balogun reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, unity, and collective progress among his people and within Kogi State, describing these as essential legacies for future generations.

He commended the state government and security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace and order, emphasizing that “without peace, there can be no development.”
