In a decisive move to tackle insecurity, the Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Ademola Bello Destiny, has issued an executive order prohibiting the sale of fuel in jerrycans and restricting bulk purchases of provisions.
In the same vein,he has also imposed a curfew in the area.
“In the interest of public safety, a curfew has also been imposed, restricting movement beyond 10 p.m. This will enhance security surveillance and reduce crime during late-night hours,” the Chairman stated.
Announcing the measures in Mopa on Friday, Bello said the directive was designed to block logistics supplies to bandits and criminals operating in the area.
He explained that stopping the sale of fuel in jerrycans would prevent diversion of petroleum products to unauthorized channels, including criminal hideouts.
Similarly, limiting bulk sales of food and essential items was aimed at frustrating efforts by bandits to stockpile supplies, according to the council’s boss.
Bello directed security agencies within Mopamuro to enforce the order strictly, warning that violators would be arrested and prosecuted.
He urged residents to cooperate with the local government and security operatives to ensure peace and stability.
“By adhering to these regulations, residents can contribute greatly to making Mopamuro a safer and more secure place for everyone,” he added.
