The Vice Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salau, has commended members of the Kogi Central Think Tank Forum (KCTTF) for deploying their wealth of experience and wisdom to promote unity and meaningful development in the state.
Prof. Salau gave the commendation on Friday while receiving the executive members of the Forum during a courtesy visit to his office.
He described members of the Forum as eminent personalities who had served society diligently in various public service roles and, even in retirement, continued to contribute to the growth and development of Kogi Central and the state at large.
The Vice Chancellor urged the Forum to leverage the pedigree of her members in uniting the people of Kogi, particularly those from Kogi Central to strengthen peace and harmony and foster tie with the state government for the members to be able to use their experience to boost the success of the current administration.
Prof. Salau further disclosed that he has been using his position as Vice Chancellor to provide employment opportunities to qualified persons as a way of redirecting youthful energies towards positive ventures that foster peace and unity.
He stressed that peace, unity, and mutual understanding are essential ingredients for the desired development of Kogi State, urging the people of Egbiraland to focus on issues that unite rather than divide them.
He emphasised the need for the more people to imbibe the concept of inter marriages to effectively check disunity among the various ethnic nationalities in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Haroun Opotu Yussuff, said the visit was to appreciate the Vice Chancellor for engaging two members of the Forum,Mr. Austin Ochu and Prof. Emmanuel Ohize.
Dr. Yussuff commended Prof. Salau’s dynamic and resource-driven leadership, which, he said, is positioning CUSTECH to become one of the foremost citadels of learning in the near future.
He explained that the Forum, established in 2008, remains committed to availing the university of the wealth of experience of her members to enhance educational and developmental aspirations of the institution.
