Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been described as the best option for an alternative leadership in the country from other aspirants for the 2027 presidential election.

Mr Sunday Suberu, Chairman of the Kogi Central Youth Forum (KCYF), said this on Sunday in Ogaminana, Kogi during a press conference to call on Jonathan to run for the 2027 presidency.

Suberu said that the former president has shown tremendous commitment to the country during his tenure to serve Nigeria again to overcome its current challenges.

Several calls had been made on Jonathan to come out and declare his intention to contest for the office of president come 2027 from different sections.

In 2022, a similar call and high campaigns were carried out until the former president decided to decline the call towards the beginning of the contest when a ticket had already been bought for him by a group.

He said that the call was based on the significant development achieved in the country during Jonathan administration in terms of human and infrastructural sectors.

‘’In these challenging times when our dear nation yearns for unity, stability, and visionary leadership, we, the Kogi Central Youth Forum (KCYF), raise a clarion call to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan— a leader whose humility, wisdom, and democratic spirit remain unmatched in our nation’s history.

‘’Nigeria today stands at a crossroads. Our people cry out for peace over conflict, progress over stagnation, and justice over division.

‘’We remember a time when the principles of democracy were upheld, when every Nigerian’s voice mattered, and when the affairs of the nation were guided with patience, dignity, and restraint,’’ Suberu said.

He added that their new position was based on the Jonathan-administration’s achievement in a peaceful transition in 2015 when he conceded to his opponent, late President Muhammadu Buhari.

’In 2015, President Jonathan made history as the first sitting Nigerian leader to peacefully concede power, proving that his ambition for Nigeria outweighed personal ambition.

‘’His famous words, “My ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian”, still echo as a model for democratic maturity in Africa and indeed the world.’’

He also revealed Jonathan’s achievements in Education and Human Development, Agricultural Transformation Agenda, Women and Youth Empowerment; Economic growth; Electoral reforms; as well as Peace and diplomacy.

‘’These and many more achievements are not just history—they are a testimony that Nigeria can rise again under his steady, unifying, and democratic leadership.

‘’Compared to many who seek power today, President Goodluck Jonathan stands out because he has nothing to prove and nothing to gain personally. He has already shown the world that leadership is about service, not self.

‘’The time has come to answer destiny’s knock. The people believe. The people are ready. And the people call on you to return. Nigeria needs you. 2027 awaits,’’ Suberu said.
