Kogi West Senator, Sunday Karimi, has paid a condolence visit to Yagba West Local Government Area, following last Wednesday’s bandit attack that claimed the lives of five security operatives.
The Reporters gathered that the assailants killed three policemen and two vigilantes, throwing the community into grief and sparking prolonged protests.
Arriving in Odo-Ere, the council headquarters, Senator Karimi sympathized with the bereaved families and admonished the youths to remain law-abiding and vigilant.
He called for collective action and stronger synergy among stakeholders to tackle insecurity.
The lawmaker also prayed for peace across Nigeria and donated ₦1 million to the youths present in Odo-Ere.
At the Nigeria Police Force, Egbe Division, the senator commiserated with officers over the death of their colleagues, urged them to remain steadfast and patriotic, and announced a ₦1 million donation to each of the widows and families of the slain policemen.
Karimi later visited the families of the two vigilantes,Dekunle Adodo and Kayode Joshua,who were killed in the attack, prayed with them, offered words of encouragement, and made financial donations to support them.
The lawmaker also visited the home of Sunday Ajawe, a constituent injured in a recent attack, where he made further donations.
At the palace of the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera, Senator Karimi addressed youths, urging them to shun divisive tendencies and embrace peace, vigilance, and patriotism for the development of the senatorial district.
Karimi, who was abroad when the attack occurred, said he had monitored developments closely and contacted relevant stakeholders to help restore peace and normalcy in the affected communities.
