ABU Alumni Association President Bows to Tradition, Shines at Lokoja Gala Night

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, is not only renowned for producing graduates of excellence and innovation who have been contributing significantly to Nigeria’s economy, but also for upholding the nation’s cultural values,especially respect for traditional institutions.

Some alumni of ABU, Zaria in a joyous reunion at the occasion.

This tradition of honour was visibly demonstrated by the President, World-Wide, ABU Alumni Association, Malam Adamu Mamman Kontagora, during his visit to Kogi State.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, the distinguished alumni leader graced the glamorous Gala Night and Award Ceremony of the ABU Alumni Association, Kogi State branch, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Lokoja.

In a colourful setting that radiated elegance and pride, Malam Kontagora’s presence added sparkle to the evening.

Our correspondent reports that what truly captivated guests was the moment he paid deep homage to the Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Saidu Akawu Saliu.

In a gesture of humility and cultural reverence, he bowed respectfully to the first-class monarch, earning applause and admiration from attendees.

The evening not only showcased the glamour of ABU alumni but also underscored the Association’s values of excellence, unity, and respect for Nigeria’s heritage.

To many alumni that attended the occasion,the night was more than just awards and glamour, it was a powerful reminder that ABU’s legacy shines not only through its graduates’ achievements but also through the respect it upholds for Nigeria’s cherished traditions.
