Fire Outbreak at Airtel Mast Site in Kwara, Major Disaster Averted

Residents of Osin Okete in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State were thrown into panic on Monday when a fire broke out at an Airtel network mast site in the community.

Our correspondent reports that the blaze, which started around 1:27 p.m., reportedly affected a generator within the facility. Report reaching The Reporters said that men of the Kwara State Fire Service, however, responded swiftly and prevented the fire from spreading to the mast and other critical installations.

According to the Fire Service, the situation was brought under control at exactly 2:04 p.m., averting what could have escalated into a major disaster.

A statement from the office of the director of the state fire service urged the public and those managing such facilities to prioritise electrical and fuel safety, and to report emergencies promptly stressing that quick action helps reduce risks and minimise damage in such situation.
