The Ebira Avaibe Association has called on members of Ebira extraction, who have not yet obtained their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state,to do so.
The Chairman of the association, Hon. Musa Akaba, made the appeal during the group’s meeting in Lokoja on Sunday, stressing that the political relevance of the Ebira people depends largely on their active participation in the electoral process.
Akaba, who commended members of the association for their moral and financial support towards its progress urged them to do more by mobilising relatives, friends, and neighbours to register and collect their PVCs.
Our correspondent reports that the association resolved to embark on visits to top government appointees of Ebira extraction in the state,to rally their support in sensitizing citizens on voter registration and grassroots mobilization.
The meeting also emphasized the need for the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District to be adequately represented in the state civil service, while reaffirming commitment to ensuring the return of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term in office.
“All political appointees must show greater commitment by sensitizing and mobilizing our people to register for the continued voters cards.
“Without such cards, we cannot talk about adequate representation or continuity in governance or political Leadership,” Akaba stressed.
Akaba noted the dwindling number of Ebira people in the Kogi State civil service and urged the present administration to commence early recruitment into the service before its tenure ends.
According to him, timely recruitment and confirmation of officers would safeguard Ebira representation, making it difficult for any incoming government to erode their presence.
He also encouraged other Egbiras to join the association to strengthen the unity and voice of the Ebira people in Lokoja and its environs.
Hon.Akaba commended Rep. Abdulrahman Egidi, Member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his quality representation and positive disposition toward the association’s progress, while also appealing for his continued financial and moral support.
