President Tinubu is set to depart Abuja for a two-nation visit to Japan and Brazil, with a brief stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, says that Tinubu will in Japan attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama from August 20 to 22.
Themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa”, the conference will focus on Africa’s economic transformation, improved business environment, institutional development and fostering a resilient and sustainable society for peace, stability and human security.
The President is expected to participate in plenary sessions, hold bilateral meetings, and engage with chief executives of Japanese companies with investments in Nigeria.
The conference initiated in 1993 by the Japanese government and co-hosted by the United Nations, UNDP, the African Union Commission, and the World Bank, TICAD, serves as a platform for policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners.
After the Japan visit, Tinubu will proceed to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25, at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
In Brazil, he will hold bilateral talks with his host, attend a business forum with Brazilian investors, and oversee the signing of cooperation agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries.
The President will be accompanied by key ministers and senior government officials on the trip.
