Ozumi Inaugurates Special Committee for 2025 Ogu Day Celebration, Chieftaincy Title Awards

The Ozumi of Okene, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Haruna Shaibu, has inaugurated a 7-member Special Committee to oversee the planning and execution of the event, including the conferment of chieftaincy titles on distinguished individuals in preparation for the 2025 Bi-Annual Ogu Day celebration,

The inauguration ceremony, held in Okene, marked the formal kick-off of preparations for the high-profile cultural celebration, according to Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, Vice Chairman, National Association of Ezi-Ogu Clan,
Lokoja Branch in a statement he signed and made a copy available to The Reporters in on Wednesday.

He said the committee is headed by Alhaji Mohammed Ogrima Otue and comprising four men and three women, adding that it is tasked with implementing recommendations previously approved by the National Association of Ezi-Ogu Clan, Lokoja branch.

The Ozumi of Okene urged the committee members to take the assignment seriously and work diligently to uphold the dignity and image of the Ezi-Ogu Clan.

He emphasized the importance of operating strictly within the committee’s mandate to avoid actions that may tarnish the clan’s reputation.

“The success of the 2025 Ogu Day celebration will be a reflection of your commitment and unity. “I urge you to carry out your duties with discipline, transparency, and respect for our traditions”the traditional ruler stated

The Ogu Day celebration, which holds every two years, showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Ezi-Ogu people and serves as a platform to honor both indigenes and non-indigenes who have contributed to the development of the clan and the wider Egbira community.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Otue,assured the Ozumi and the community of the committee’s dedication to delivering a successful and memorable event.

“We accept this responsibility with gratitude and a strong resolve to meet expectations. “We will work together to project the Ezi-Ogu Clan in a positive light,” he said.

Also speaking, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, Vice Chairman of the National Association of Ezi-Ogu Clan, Lokoja branch, expressed confidence in the newly inaugurated committee, noting that their selection was based on merit, experience, and dedication to community service.

With the committee now in place, planning activities are expected to commence in earnest ahead of the 2025 Ogu Day celebrations.
