Niger State Government has established an isolation centre at the old wing of the Late Senator Idris Ibrahim Kuta Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) along Old Airport Road in Minna,in response to the recent cholera outbreak in the state.
The Commissioner said, “We have set up treatment and isolation centres to mitigate and also embark on aggressive sensitization exercises beyond the 6 LGAs where the disease was first noticed”.
The Commissioner for Primary Health Care, Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Dangana, disclosed this in Minna on Wednesday, adding that government has taken swift and coordinated action to curb the spread of the disease.
He further revealed that a multi-sectoral response mechanism has been activated across the six most affected Local Government Areas (LGAs).
According to Dr. Dangana, “We have set up treatment and isolation centres to manage cases and also launched aggressive sensitization campaigns beyond the six LGAs where the outbreak was initially reported.”
He explained that the sensitization effort now includes religious organizations such as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Islamic groups, and traditional institutions across the state’s eight emirate councils.
Dr. Dangana also commended Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his proactive leadership in protecting the lives of residents. He extended his appreciation to donor agencies and development partners for their swift intervention and continued support in addressing the crisis.
