It was a moment of deep reverence and celebration on Sunday in Olle-Bunu, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, as the Executive Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, paid glowing tribute to His Royal Majesty, Oba Joseph Adebayo Ikusemoro, Olubunu of Bunu Kingdom, on the occasion of his 100th birthday and 64th year on the throne.

Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo described the centenarian monarch as a living symbol of peace, unity, and cultural pride, whose leadership has brought lasting harmony and progress to Bunu Kingdom.

The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including Hon. Shehu Seidu Ahmodu, member representing Ofu Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, and Hon. Aboh Ibrahim, Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, among others.

According to a statement by Mr. Unubi Emmanuel, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the governor’s message was one of deep appreciation and respect for the monarch’s remarkable journey through life and leadership.

“It is with great honor and privilege that I stand before you today, on behalf of my principal, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, to pay tribute to a man who has dedicated his life to the service of his people and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage.

“Oba Joseph Adebayo Ikusemoro has been a beacon of wisdom, unity, and progress in our beloved Bunu Kingdom. His reign has brought peace, prosperity, and development,”Salifu said.

The governor also acknowledged the monarch’s enduring commitment to the welfare of his people, stating that Oba Ikusemoro’s legacy of peace and unity is one that should inspire current and future generations.

“Oba Adebayo’s life reminds us of the strength in traditional leadership and the importance of community values. His century-long journey is not just about age—it is a testament to purpose, service, and devotion to a people and their identity,” the governor added.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Bunu Kingdom, pledging continued support for development initiatives and security.

The centenary celebration was not just a royal event,it was a community affair, filled with heartfelt moments, traditional music, and storytelling that honored the life and legacy of a king who has become both history and heritage in motion.

As the people of Bunu Kingdom danced, sang, and offered prayers for more years of good health for their monarch, they were also telling a story that echoed far beyond the palace walls,a story of a king who stood with his people for more than six decades, and whose life continues to be a blessing to all.
