Members of the Ebira Avaibe Association, Aneibo Housing Estate,Lokoja, Kogi State, left their weekly meeting on Sunday with broad smiles,and food items in hand as a visible sign that they belong to a community where their welfare truly matters.
Our correspondent reports that in a heartwarming move described as the first of its kind since the group’s formation in 2022, each member was gifted a packet of seasoning cube and tomato paste.
While modest, the gesture was deeply symbolic, reinforcing the association’s growing commitment to the well-being of its members.
The Chairman of the association, Hon. Musa Akaba, a former member of the Kogi State House of Assembly representing Ajaokuta Constituency, expressed joy over the initiative.
He noted that although the items may seem small, they serve as a powerful reminder that the association prioritizes care, solidarity, and shared support among its members.
“This is just the beginning. We are determined to continue promoting unity and ensuring our members benefit from meaningful welfare and human development programs, both from government and private sector opportunities,”Hon. Akaba said.
He further disclosed that plans are already in motion to formally register the association with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
This step, he said, will position the association to attract external support and partnerships aimed at improving members’ lives.
Hon. Akaba therefore urged members to see the welfare gesture as motivation to attend meetings regularly and remain committed to paying their monthly dues, which sustain the association’s activities.
Grateful members, in turn, thanked the leadership for its thoughtfulness and pledged to support the association’s vision of fostering unity and collective progress.
“Our unity is our strength.When we care for one another like this, we show the world that we are not just a group,we are a family,a member said this in an interview with our correspondent after the meeting.
“May the Almighty God bless the initiator and God bless our Noble Ebira Avaibe Association. It was indeed a very rear smile and uncommon gesture towards the members”, Haruna Onukaba, a member of the association said in a statement he posted on its social media platform.
