Imagine closing your eyes and remember the street you grew up on. The laughter of children chasing tyres down the road. The sweet scent of rain-soaked earth. A clean market square where traders proudly displayed their wares.

Now, open your eyes to today’s reality: gutters choked with plastic waste, homes swallowed by floods, air heavy with the stench of decay. What happened to the place we once called home?

This scenario is contained in a statement from Summit University, Offa, Kwara state,en route to The Reporters on Sunday.

Determined to change the narrative, the University has concluded arrangement to assemble scholars, community leaders, and environmental advocates under one virtual roof to demand change and craft solutions.

Fronting for the event,Summit University, Offa, said hosting the pivotal event, themed “Smart Environmental Pollution Solutions Towards Sustainable Living” represents its contribution towards finding lasting solution to environmental problems in the state.

“This is our chance to act. Join us at Summit University, Offa, for an honest, solution-driven conversation at our online event: Smart Environmental Pollution Solutions Towards Sustainable Living. Let’s share ideas. Let’s rebuild pride. Let’s restore our environment—together.

On the rationale for holding the event, the University noted that environmental degradation is not just a distant problem, but already altering how people live, breathe, and what they leave behind, hence the need to arrest the situation.

It expressed optimism that through collective effort, environmental education, and sustainable innovation, the narrative would change for the better.

The Summit University added that the event is part of the DELitE Project, funded by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) to increase environmental literacy among post-primary school students, giving them the tools to become changemakers in their communities.
