Religious leaders from both Islamic and Christian communities led hundreds of worshippers in special interfaith prayers in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, seeking divine intervention over the rising wave of insecurity in Kogi West Senatorial District.
Our correspondent gathered that,the prayer sessions, tagged “Seek the Face of Allah/God in Kogi West,” were simultaneously held at the Central Mosque and ECWA Church, Lokoja, drawing large turnouts from concerned residents.
Participants expressed deep worry over the spate of kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks plaguing the district and stressed the for divine intervention among other measures.
Addressing journalists at the Central Mosque, Senator Sunday Karimi, who represents Kogi West in the National Assembly and organizer of the prayer sessions,regret that the situation has become unbearable for the ordinary people in the district.
“When kidnapping and insecurity reach alarming levels, it becomes necessary to seek the face of the Almighty for intervention and mercy. With prayers, all things are possible,” he stated.
According to Karimi, no responsible leader can sleep peacefully while his constituents are being abducted and killed.
He said beyond the government’s security arrangements, it became imperative to seek divine intervention to security challenge in kogi West.
He revealed that the interfaith prayer sessions would continue in other local government areas across the senatorial district until calm is restored.
The event marked a rare show of unity among religious groups in the state and underscored the urgency of seeking divine intervention to the security challenge facing Kogi West.
