The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State chapter, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has congratulated Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago on the occasion of his second anniversary in office, describing his tenure so far as “historic and transformational.”
In a statement made available to journalists in Minna, Bishop Yohanna, who is also the Catholic Bishop of the Kontagora Diocese, commended the Governor for his unwavering commitment to the rapid development of the state within just two years.
He noted that the sweeping road rehabilitation and reconstruction projects currently ongoing across the state are visible testaments to the Governor’s dedication, adding that Bago has inscribed his name in gold in the annals of Niger State’s governance—surpassing many before him since the state’s creation over four decades ago.
“We acknowledge and commend Your Excellency for placing high priority on critical sectors such as education, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, healthcare delivery, and the rehabilitation of feeder roads across the 25 local government areas,” the statement read.
Bishop Yohanna expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the Christian community, stating that Nigerlites are grateful for the Governor’s focus, energy, and selfless service toward a “New Niger.”
He also offered prayers for divine protection, strength, and wisdom for the Governor as he continues to steer the affairs of the state.
“We urge all citizens to support Governor Bago’s administration, irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious backgrounds, for the progress of our dear state,” he said.
Assuring continued support from the Christian community, Bishop Yohanna pledged that the entire Christendom in Niger State would keep praying for the Governor to succeed in actualizing his vision for a greater and united Niger.
“Remain fair and inclusive in governance,” he advised, “and may God continue to guide your leadership for the good of all.”
