Foreign news (Abidjan).
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is currently attending the 2025 Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank (AFDB) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, as a Special Guest of the continental financial institution.

This is contained in a statement issued by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, and made available to The Reporters on Wednesday in Lokoja.

Fanwo said the Governor Ododo’s presence at the high-level meeting underscores his administration’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships with global development institutions to attract funding that will unlock Kogi’s economic potential and enhance the welfare of its citizens.

He further disclosed that during the meeting, the Governor is engaging with AFDB leadership to secure financing from the Bank’s specialized windows, with a focus on three critical sectors: agriculture, solid minerals, and transportation infrastructure, including the development of a proposed airport in the state.

Key funding channels being explored include the Africa Legal Support Facility to strengthen governance and investment frameworks in the solid minerals sector; the Special Agricultural Processing Zones Facility to develop agro-industrial hubs; and the Infrastructure Facility Fund to support market-linked transport projects, Fanwo added.

According to him,Governor Ododo’s engagements have commenced on a promising note, with technical teams from both the Kogi State Government and the AFDB aligning on project design and funding strategies to fast-track implementation.

Accompanying the Governor to Abidjan are top government officials and technical experts, including the Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Nda Aliyu Salami; Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris; State Auditor General, Hon. Yakubu Okala and other key aides.
