The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid glowing tribute to the late Chief Patrick Adaba, describing him as a foundational figure in the creation and development of Kogi State.

Speaking at the burial Mass held in honour of the former Deputy Governor at Christ the King Catholic Church, Okene, on Friday, Governor Ododo urged the Adaba family to uphold the legacy of unity, peace, and selfless service exemplified by the late statesman.
Describing Chief Adaba as a “founding pillar of Kogi State,” Governor Ododo highlighted the deceased’s vital role in laying the political and administrative groundwork that shaped the state’s early years.
“Pa Patrick Adaba was among those who laid the foundation of our dear state, and that foundation was laid for greatness. Today, we are witnessing the fruits of that greatness, and we thank God for his impactful life,” he said.
The Governor noted that Chief Adaba’s contributions predated Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999. He served as Secretary to the State Government and later as Deputy Governor under Prince Abubakar Audu, Kogi’s first elected governor.
“Chief Patrick Adaba was a steady hand during Kogi’s formative years, offering wisdom and calm judgment in challenging times. His legacy of integrity and public service is deeply etched in the state’s history. “Even in retirement, he remained a unifying figure and a moral compass for many.
,”Ododo added.
Governor Ododo extended his heartfelt condolences to the Adaba family, the Ebira community, and the entire people of Kogi State, praying for eternal rest for the departed elder statesman and strength for his loved ones in their time of grief.
