Maj-Gen. Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim has assumed duty as the 33rd Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.

Ibrahim took over from Maj-Gen. John Ochai, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Abuja.

The new Commandant is a member of the 39th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Prior to his appointment as the Commandant, NDA, he was Commander, Infantry Corps, Nigerian Army.

In his remarks, Maj General Ibrahim said that it was a great honour and a big privilege to be appointed to the high office as Commandant of the Military Academy.

“I want to thank Gen. Ochai for all he has done. I think we all agree that we have seen a lot of improvement.

“I thank you for all you have done in the academy and for the staff that I am going to head very soon. I look forward to working with all of you.

Major General Ibrahim assured that he would lead the academy without any ethnic or religious sentiment.

”You can be sure that merit, competence, and hard work will be recognised and rewarded.

I will not accept indiscipline, lousyness, and those behaviors that should not be, I will not put my eyes away from that, so I hope we work together,” he further stated.

The outgone Commandant had earlier appreciated God for having the privilege to serve NDA as Commandant.

He appealed for maximum support to the new Commandant to achieve the desired result.

Our Correspondent reports that a regiment parade was conducted in honour of the outgone Commandant.
