The Niger State Government has announced a strategic partnership with Overland Airways Limited to begin uninterrupted scheduled flight operations from the newly inaugurated Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) International Airport, Minna.

The routes will include direct flights from Minna to Lagos, and from Lagos through Abuja back to Minna.

The Chief Executive Officer of Overland Airways Limited, Captain Edward Boyo, made this known shortly after the official relaunch of the Minna-Lagos and Lagos-Abuja-Minna flights, scheduled to commence on April 23, 2025.

The new flight routes are expected to save air travelers in Niger State time, money, and the inconvenience of seeking connecting flights, representing a major milestone in enhancing regional air connectivity.

As the pioneering airline on this route, Overland Airways aims to connect Niger State with major Nigerian cities and commercial hubs on a daily basis.

Captain Boyo attributed this achievement to the visionary leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and the strategic efforts of the New Niger Development Project (NNDP) and the New Niger Aviation (NNA), adding that it is a Special Purpose Vehicle created to manage and improve the state’s aviation infrastructure.

He noted that the partnership with Overland Airways, one of Nigeria’s longest-serving private domestic airlines, will provide relief to travelers who previously endured the risks and stress of traveling to Abuja for connecting flights.

According to him, this collaboration is a significant step in realizing Governor Bago’s infrastructure development agenda, positioning Niger State as a regional hub for trade, investment, and tourism.

“We are honoured to be chosen as the airline for this historic Minna-Lagos route.

“This service underscores our commitment to expanding connectivity across Nigeria and partnering with visionary governments like Niger State to bring growth closer to the people,” Boyo said.

He also commended Governor Bago and the NNA team for their bold and transformative vision and encouraged other states in the region to take advantage of similar opportunities to connect with others through Overland Airways.

Earlier, the Chief Operating Officer of NNA, Alhaji Liman Katamba Kutigi, described the launch as more than just a new air route, painting out that it is a gateway to broader opportunities for development and cooperation.
