,,,,Says it’s ‘Objectionable in Content”.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned and barred Nigerian radio and television stations from airing the trending song “Tell Your Papa” by veteran rapper Eedris Abdulkareem, citing its “objectionable nature.”
In a memo dated April 9, 2025, and signed by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the commission classified the song as “Not To Be Broadcast” (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.
The referenced section prohibits the airing of materials considered inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency on broadcast platforms within the country.
According to the NBC, while the track has gained popularity on social media, its lyrics do not align with the standards of responsible broadcasting.
Titled “Restriction on Broadcasting ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris Abdulkareem”, the memo reads in part:
“The National Broadcasting Commission has identified the song ‘Tell Your Papa’ by Eedris Abdulkareem, currently trending on social media, as content deemed inappropriate for broadcast due to its objectionable nature.”
The commission has therefore instructed all broadcast stations to refrain from playing the song on air.
