The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has granted provisional approval for fans of Nasarawa United Football Club to return to the stands during the team’s home games at the Lafia Township Stadium.
Our correspondent recalls that the league body had earlier banned supporters from attending matches at the stadium following crowd misconduct during a home fixture against Rivers United on December 22, 2024.
In a statement released on Saturday in Lafia and a copy got to The Reporters on Sunday,Eche Amos, Director of Media for Nasarawa United, announced the development, adding that the approval was communicated through a letter signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi.
Amos noted that the approval is conditional and subject to continuous monitoring to assess the effectiveness of security measures implemented by the club.
He confirmed that fans would be allowed back into the stadium starting from the Matchday 32 fixture against Akwa United FC on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
“We are pleased to inform our teeming supporters that they can now return to support the team, but we urge everyone to maintain order and comply with all security and safety protocols,” Amos stated.
He also expressed appreciation for the fans’ patience during the period of the ban and assured them that the club, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Football Association, would ensure adequate security at all home games.
