Ayegunle Gbede Community, Students Hail Prof. Abdulsalam’s Appointment as MD of Ajaokuta Steel Company

The people of Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, along with the Ayegunle Gbede Students’ Union (AGSU), have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Professor Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam on his recent appointment as the Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company.

In a statement signed by Yusuf Adeyanju Yisau, National Public Relations Officer of the Ayegunle Gbede Descendants Union, the community described Prof. Abdulsalam’s appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well-deserved and a reflection of his outstanding track record in leadership, academia, and national service.

“This important appointment is a testimony to your exceptional leadership qualities, wealth of experience, and contributions to the steel industry,” the union said.

They noted that Prof. Abdulsalam, a proud indigene of Ayetoro Gbede in Kogi State, brings to the role a stellar academic background as a professor of geophysics, a former Head of the Physics Department at Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, and most recently, a Technical Adviser to the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu.

“May your tenure be marked by significant growth, innovation, and progress in the steel industry. We also pray for your safety, good health, and prosperity,” they added.

Similarly, the Ayegunle Gbede Students’ Union (AGSU), in a separate statement signed by its National President, Bojuwon Yunus, described the appointment as a testament to Prof. Abdulsalam’s visionary leadership, vast expertise, and unwavering dedication to national development.

“We are confident that your leadership will usher in a new era of progress at Ajaokuta Steel Company and contribute immensely to Nigeria’s industrial advancement,” the union said.

They further lauded the professor for his inspiring journey and remarkable achievements, noting that his success serves as a beacon of hope and motivation to students and young professionals alike.

The community and its students expressed their best wishes to Prof. Abdulsalam for a successful and impactful tenure as he leads the revival of Ajaokuta Steel Company.
