After spending 56 harrowing days in captivity, former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), has finally regained his freedom.
Our correspondent recalls that Tsiga was abducted on February 5, 2025, in his hometown of Tsiga, Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, alongside nine other residents.
Despite an initial ransom payment by his family, the kidnappers refused to release him, prolonging his ordeal for several more weeks.
A security expert, Deji Adesogan, confirmed Tsiga’s release to The Guardian.
While one source claimed that N60 million was paid to secure his freedom, another suggested the actual ransom was nearly three times that amount.
