Blessing Onuh, the lawmaker representing Otukpo-Ohimini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has sounded the alarm over the escalating wave of violence in her constituency. She called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to end the bloodshed and hold perpetrators accountable.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in Abuja,Onuh condemned the spate of killings and kidnappings ravaging her constituency, and called security agencies to do their job in protecting citizens.

“The killings in my constituency have reached an unbearable level in recent weeks. Every day, innocent people are murdered, and it is beginning to feel like a norm,” she lamented.

Recalling recent tragedies, Onuh cited the brutal murder of retired customs officer Onche Akatu in the Asa 2 community of Otukpo Local Government Area, during which two of his family members were abducted.

She also noted with dismay, the gruesome killing of a nursing mother, Felicia Ochigbo in the Old NTA Area of Asa and the murder of another resident, an Igbo man.

The Rep.also pointed to a chilling attack in Okpomoju Community, Okete Ward, where suspected herdsmen slaughtered five men, leaving the village in mourning.

According to Onuh, residents now live in fear, with some receiving direct threats from attackers. “As I speak, people are fleeing their homes, unsure if anywhere is truly safe,” she said.

The lawmaker questioned the failure of security agencies to act decisively. “Are these killers above the law? Why is it so difficult to arrest them and restore peace so that our people can sleep soundly?” she asked.

Onuh urged President Tinubu to order security agencies to take immediate action to apprehend the perpetrators and bring lasting peace to the region.
