Wife of Obaro of Kabba Dies,CUSTECH Sympathises

The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi state,has expressed its deepest condolences to the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of the Okun Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, over the passing of his beloved wife, Olori Maria Ige Owoniyi.

This is contained in a statement from the information,Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the university and a copy shared with The Reporters on Thursday.

In a heartfelt condolence message signed by the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students of CUSTECH, the university described the loss as a profound one, as not only to the royal family but also the Owe race and the entire Okun Kingdom .

The Vice Chancellor, in his statement, expressed the university’s solidarity with the Obaro of Kabba and the people of Okun Kingdom during this difficult time.

He prayed for the eternal repose of Olori Maria Ige Owoniyi, describing her as a pillar of strength and a symbol of grace whose legacy will forever be remembered.

“The entire CUSTECH community stands with His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the royal family, and the Okun Kingdom in this moment of grief. We pray that Almighty God grants the Obaro of Kabba, the royal family, and the entire Okun Kingdom the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.

Prof. Salawu emphasized the significant role Olori Maria Ige Owoniyi played in supporting her husband’s leadership and her contributions to the cultural and communal development of the Okun people.

The Vice Chancellor noted that her death has left a void that will be too difficult to fill across the kingdom.

The university urged the people of Okun Kingdom to take solace in the enduring legacy of Olori Maria Ige Owoniyi and to uphold the values she championed during her lifetime.

As the Okun Kingdom mourns, CUSTECH reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the community and standing in solidarity with the royal family during this period of grief.
