Community Mourns Loss of Woman Leader in Kogi at 80

The death has occurred of Mrs. Salamotu Isa Otaru, a respected community leader from Ohueta-Ihima, near Trinity College in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In a statement shared with The Reporters in Lokoja on Monday, her son in law, Engr Ibrahim Okaraga, confirmed the passing of his beloved mother in law, adding that the deceased died on March 17, 2025, at the age of 80, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Itaru,he added ,is survived by four children: Hajia Maimuna Okaraga Ibrahim, a teacher at Nasfat Community Primary School in Lokoja; Hajia Hussaina Otaru, a businesswoman based in Abuja; Dauda Baba Otaru, a businessman employed in the area; and Idowu Otaru.

Engr. Okaraga said that Mrs. Malik is also survived by 15 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and numerous extended family members who mourn her loss.

*A dedicated matriarch, Mrs. Malik’s contributions to her community and family will be fondly remembered.

“Her legacy as a pillar of strength and leadership will endure in the hearts of those she left behind,” Engr.Okaraga noted.
The deceased has been buried according to Islamic rites.
