The Democratic Front (TDF) is convinced that the President Bola Tinubu administration will use Creative and Tourism as one of the sectors to fastrack Nigeria’s move to a $1 trillion economy in the shortest possible time.
The conviction of the TDF stems from the approval by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of the establishment of the Creative and Tourism Infrastructure Corporation which shall diversify and speed up economic growth.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group described it as a bold move to ensure proper diversification of the economy.
It said: “The multidimensional benefits and advantages of the new Creative and Tourism Infrastructure Corporation to Nigeria’s economy are too numerous to be mentioned. It is a key enablement for the main stimuli that drive economic growth and development, particularly with regard to job creation and poverty alleviation.
“We are convinced that the Creative and Tourism Corporation will go a long way to enhancing the preservation of Nigeria’s culture and heritage and also promote the nation’s traditional crafts, music, and arts.
“We note the feat achieved recently, by a Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Terms, in winning the Best African Music Performance at the Grammy Award and this for us, is an evidence of the abundant talents in Nigeria’s creative and tourism industry, which we expect the Creative and Tourism Infrastructure Corporation to unlock.
“Similarly, we anticipate a significant boom in Nigeria’s tourism enterprise, as steps will be taken by the corporation to foster relationships between tourists and the locals, to promote community engagement for economic trade and investment, between tourists and Nigerians.
“Nigeria being a country endowed with the talent to invent and produce modern tourism products and services, we envisage that the new Creative and Tourism Infrastructure Corporation will reduce the country’s excessive dependency on crude oil for revenue, by building capacity for local tourist companies to develop tourism products and services in Nigeria. This will strategically revolutionize ongoing efforts to diversify the economy.
“Indeed, the positive impact of this laudable decision by President Tinubu on environmental sustainability is a key aspect that will attract Foreign Direct Investments into the sector. Global environmental agencies and stakeholders will support the corporation’s efforts in promoting eco-friendly practices and local conservation in creative tourism to achieve sustainable development.”
TDF also commended the president for the decision to unlock Nigeria’s potential in the creative tourism industry as part of efforts to galvanize Nigeria towards realizing its $1 trillion dream economy.
