Tragedy struck Kaduna State on Thursday, January 30, 2025, when the Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, collapsed and died during a public event.

He was attending the event alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

Eyewitnesses reported that Pate, a prominent senior council member and the Councillor overseeing Health Matters for the Zazzau Emirate, suddenly slumped.

He was immediately rushed to Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Kofar Gayan Zaria, where medical staff confirmed his death.

The Zazzau Emirate Council, through its Media and Publicity Officer Abdullahi Kwarbai, expressed profound grief over his passing.

Emir Bamalli paid tribute to Pate, describing him as a dedicated and hardworking leader whose death leaves a significant void within the Emirate.

Pate’s remains were laid to rest at Rimin Dodo later that evening, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
