81-year-old LT.Gen.Jeremiah Useni dies,Plateau Governor mourns

The death has occurred of a
former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lt. General Jeremiah Timbut Useni.

He hailed from Plateau state.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State confirmed the sad news in a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere in Jos on Thursday.

Mutfwang described the demise of Useni as a tremendous loss not only to his immediate family but also to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau State, and Nigeria at large.

Popularly known as Jerry, he died on Thursday, January 23, 2025,after a protracted illness.

Useni was also a former Minister of Aviation,was the Deputy Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and was elected Senator, representing Plateau South Senatorial District in 2015 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The Governor paid tribute to General Useni for his life of selfless service and his profound contributions to the military, politics, and community.

According to the governor, Useni was known for a legacy of compassion, kindness, generosity, as well as dedication to the well-being of others, adding that would endure in the lives of those he impacted.
