KOGI POLY SECURES FULL ACCREDITATION FOR 18 DUE PROGRAMMES, APPROVAL TO MOUNT 8 NEW ONES.

-As the institution records FULL Institutional Accreditation

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted Full Institutional Accreditation for Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, and for 18 due programmes presented by the institution.

Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja disclosed this in a statement she signed and made a copy to The Reporters in Lokoja on Monday.

The Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, who announced this at the 32nd Matriculation ceremony of the institution, held on Saturday 18th December, 2024, also said that NBTE has granted the Polytechnic approval to mount 8 new programmes.

The Rector noted that the 100 percent quality assurance success recorded for the 27 programmes was a consolidation the resounding accreditation success in 2022 when all the 30 programmes presented to NBTE were fully accredited.

The exercise was conducted in the Polytechnic by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) between 18th – 20th December, 2024.

The programmes that were granted full accreditation status with effect from the 2024/2025 academic session are:

1. ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology
2. ND Computer Engineering Technology
3. HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (Power and Machine Option)
4. HND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (Electronic and Telecommunication Option)
5. ND Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology
6. ND Accountancy
7. HND Accountancy
8. ND Business Administration and Management
9. HND Business Administration and Management
10. ND Public Administration
11. HND Public Administration
12. HND Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology Option)
13. 13. HND Urban and Regional Planning
14. ND Library and Information Science
15. HND Library and Information Science
16. ND Horticultural Technology
17. ND Animal Health and Production Technology
18. ND Agricultural Technology
19. INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION

The programmes that were granted approval for commencement after Resource Inspection Visitation are:

1. HND Civil Engineering Technology
2. HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option)
3. HND Building Technology
4. HND Architectural Technology
5. HND Surveying and Geo-Informatics
6. ND Printing Technology
7. ND Fashion Design and Clothing Technology
8. ND Mass Communication

The Rector stressed that, with the outcome, no programme in the Polytechnic has denied or interim accreditation status; adding that it was a reflection of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and stability.

He explained that out of the 57 programmes in the institution, 19 of them were introduced under his administration, representing 33.3 percent of all programmes in the Polytechnic.

Prof Usman, therefore, commended the collective efforts of the Principal Officers, Management, Academic Board and members of staff, including cleaners, drivers and security personnel, for their dedication and support before, during and after the Accreditation and Resource Inspection visitation.

Prof Usman seized the opportunity to specially appreciate the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering support and creating the enabling environment for the institution to thrive.

He reiterated his commitment to rebranding of the Polytechnic to the admiration of other Polytechnics and institutions of learning in Nigeria and beyond.
