The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, has urged personnel of the comma to exhibit the core values of service, discipline, sacrifice, professionalism and selflessness in the discharge of their duties.
The Commissioner gave the advice on Thursday in Lokoja while decorating newly promoted Officers of the command, according to the release signed by SP William Ovie Aya and made a copy available to The Reporters on Fri day
The CP commended the dedication and hard work shown by the newly promoted officers, which he noted earned them their well-deserved promotions.
He further stressed that the new ranks represent increased responsibilities, adding that Police are servants of the people not master,hence the need for them to be fair,shun corruption and cherish justice.
The CP expresses gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and the Chairman, Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu,Rtd for recognizing Officers through promotions.
He reminded the promoted officers that iin the Police Force, higher ranks come with greater challenges, contrary to the saying that, “the higher you go, the cooler it becomes”.
According to him,the cooperation of the communities and families is crucial in managing these responsibilities.
The CP emphasized the importance of community support and cooperation in maintaining security,noting that security is a shared responsibility and not the duty of security agencies alone.
Officers decorated are;Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Ochoma ThankGod, seven Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), two Superintendent of Police (SP) and twenty-eight Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in a grand ceremony at the M.M. Katsina Conference Hall, State Headquarters, Lokoja.
The CP thanked the invited guests for their presence, while acknowledging the support of the families and communities in the success of Police operations.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including the Traditional Chiefs (Madaki of Adankolo), members of the Command Management Team, other senior Officers both serving and retired, relatives and well-wishers.
ACP Ochoma ThankGod, who spoke on behalf of the newly promoted Officers, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector-General, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetoku, the Chairman, Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, Rtd, for finding them worthy of the promotion.
He further appreciated the CP for his exceptional leadership and outstanding legacy, while acknowledging that the new chapter is a call for them to double their efforts in discharging their mandates.
