Christians in Kwara State, north central Nigeria,joined millions worldwide in celebrating Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ with joy, gratitude, and thanksgiving.
Our correspondent reports that worshippers, dressed in colorful attire,filled churches across the state to mark the special occasion.
In his Christmas sermon titled “Joy to the World,” Right Reverend Sunday Adewole, Bishop of the Diocese of Kwara, Anglican Communion, stressed the spiritual importance of Christ’s birth and described it as a symbol of reconciliation between humanity and God.
“The birth of Jesus Christ bridged the gap between God and man,” “As we celebrate, let us do so responsibly and avoid carrying the burden of debts into the new year,”Reverend Adewole stated.
Acknowledging the nation’s economic difficulties, the Bishop encouraged Nigerians to remain patient and urged the government to intensify efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, who represented the state government, reassured residents of the state of the ongoing efforts to improve the economic situation in the country.
“The federal government is working tirelessly to address these challenges, and the state government remains committed to fostering peace, unity, and development,” Mr. Alabi said.
He called for harmony among residents, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
Retired Bishop Philip Adeyemo also appealed to Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and dedicated to doing God’s will.
The Christmas celebrations across Kwara State echoed themes of hope, unity, and resilience, offering comfort and encouragement amid prevailing economic hardships.
