The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc has called on its customers to embrace safety and responsible energy usage throughout the Yuletide and beyond.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Managing Director, Mr. Francis Agoha, extended warm Christmas greetings to all Christians, IBEDC customers, and Nigerians. He noted that the birth of Jesus Christ represents sacrificial love, a virtue humanity should emulate during the festive season.
Agoha assured customers that IBEDC has put measures in place to ensure network stability and efficient operations during the holidays. âWe are fully prepared to address faults promptly to minimize disruptions in power supply,â he stated.
The MD emphasized the dangers of energy theft, cautioning against tampering with meters or making illegal connections, which he described as criminal acts that degrade service quality and hinder societal progress. He encouraged customers to report faults, energy theft, or any suspicious activities to IBEDC offices or through customer care lines.
Highlighting safety concerns, Agoha warned against tampering with electrical installations, citing severe risks, including injury or fatality. He also urged customers to avoid dangerous practices, such as cooking under power lines, and to refrain from drunk driving during the festive period.
To ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, IBEDC advised customers to utilize secure payment platforms, including the IBEDCPAY app, Quickteller, Payarena, Jumia, Watu, Buypower, IRecharge, and ATMs.
IBEDC offices will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the holidays to attend to fault reporting, inquiries, bill payments, and vending services.
âWe sincerely appreciate our customers for their continued support throughout the year,â Agoha said, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with peace, joy, and progress.
