The Kogi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the deployment of 520 personnel to ensure smooth and safe road travel during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lokoja on Monday, the Sector Commander, Mr. Samuel Oyedeji, stated that the FRSC, in collaboration with other security agencies, has implemented strategies to prevent road traffic crashes across the state’s 21 local government areas.
“The command, alongside the state government and security agencies, has devised measures to ensure free-flowing traffic in Lokoja and its environs,” Oyedeji said.
He highlighted key measures, including the prompt removal of road obstructions that could lead to accidents. He also revealed that the deployment includes one towing truck, four ambulances, two motorbikes, and special marshals for traffic control to prevent gridlock.
Furthermore, the command has intensified public awareness campaigns at churches, mosques, and motor parks to educate residents about road safety during the festive season.
Oyedeji urged road users to prioritize safety and ensure their vehicles are in good working condition before traveling to avoid unnecessary delays and hazards.
He concluded by wishing travelers a safe journey as they celebrate the yuletide season.
