The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, has made a significant impact in his hometown of Malagi, Lavun Local Government Area, Niger State, by connecting the community to the national grid for the first time.
At the insulation of several development projects, including electrification, a mosque with an Islamiyya school, boreholes, and a renovated primary school, the Minister emphasized his commitment to addressing the lack of basic social amenities in the area.
“This is my way of giving back to the community that gave me life. “I want to pave a way through education and development so others can benefit and thrive,” he said.
The electrification project, described as a first for the community, aims to power every home and improve socio-economic activities.
Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, who attended the event, praised the Minister for his contributions and pledged further support.
The Governor announced over N12 million in donations to local groups, promised to upgrade the renovated primary school to a junior secondary school, and committed to building a market for the community.
Governor Bago encouraged other affluent Nigerians to emulate such efforts, underscoring the importance of public-private collaboration in uplifting rural areas.
The event showcased how leaders can transform communities by addressing long-standing challenges and inspiring hope for a brighter future.
