Transform Society Through Education,VC KWASU Urges Graduates.

The Vice-Chancellor,Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Prof. Shaykh Luqman-Jimoh, has called on the 2023/2024 graduating students of the institution to harness their education to drive societal transformation.

Speaking at the university’s 12th convocation ceremony, Professor Luqman-Jimoh emphasized the transformative power of education.

“You are stepping into a new beginning, and I join your family and friends in anticipating the positive impact you will make in society. The education you have received at Kwara State University equips you to change the world,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the graduates to face challenges of life boldly, live exemplary life and uphold KWASU’s core values of community service and societal impact.

Highlighting the university’s progress, Professor Luqman-Jimoh disclosed that university inaugurated a new 104-bed hostel and the Students Smart City Project, which aim to provide 8,700 bed spaces in its first phase and 25,000 bed spaces in subsequent phases.

This initiative, developed in partnership with private investors, is designed to improve students’ living conditions, he further revealed.

He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for expanding access to higher education through the establishment of KWASU campuses in Osi and Ilesha-Baruba, which serve the Kwara South and North Senatorial Districts.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, urged stakeholders to support the university’s infrastructure development. Addressing the graduates, he said, “Today marks the start of your journey into the larger society, where you will face life’s practical realities. Strive to carve a niche for yourself in this competitive world.”

The Chancellor, Engr Johnson Bamidele Adewumi, reaffirmed KWASU’s commitment to advancing infrastructure, technology, and academic excellence.

Represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde,
Governor AbdulRazaq,
praised KWASU for its peaceful academic environment and consistent calendar.

The governor encouraged the graduates to use their skills to drive socio-economic growth in Kwara State.

Our correspondent reports that 6,891 students graduated, including 71 first Class.
