The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully reunited Muhammed Fauziyah, a 400-level student of Kogi State University, Anyigba, with her family after she was abducted. The Command also paraded a suspected kidnapper, Abu Umar, accused of abducting a woman and her two sons in Kwara State.
In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC I Ayoola Michael Shola, the incident was disclosed to journalists in Ilorin on Monday. Speaking at the Command’s headquarters, the State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, revealed that Fauziyah had been abducted outside her university in Kogi State but could not recall how she ended up in Ilorin.
“Fauziyah was found wandering in the Egbejila area of Ilorin, where concerned neighbors alerted community leaders, who then handed her over to the NSCDC,” Dr. Umar explained. “Our investigation confirmed she was abducted in Kogi State and somehow stranded in Ilorin.”
Fauziyah has since been reunited with her uncle, Mallam Salihu Aliu, who expressed deep gratitude to the NSCDC for their prompt response and efforts.
In a separate development, the Command paraded Abu Umar, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate. He is accused of abducting Isiaka Halimah and her two sons, Kabir and Hassan Isiaka, on November 7, 2024, in the Gidanrogo area of Ajase-Ipo, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State.
Dr. Umar explained that the suspect, who previously worked for the victims’ family, was tracked and apprehended after the kidnappers used his phone to demand ransom. “The suspect is assisting us in tracking other members of the syndicate still at large and ensuring the safe release of the victims,” Dr. Umar stated.
Reassuring residents, Dr. Umar emphasized the NSCDC’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and maintaining peace and security in Kwara State.
