A Legacy Honored: Gratitude as Kogi Polytechnic Immortalizes Late Professor Ajibero.

The immediate family of the late Professor Matthew Idowu Ajibero, former Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, expressed profound gratitude as they visited the institution to witness the Polytechnic Library named in his honor.

Led by his widow, Mrs. Grace Ajibero, the family’s visit on November 28, 2024, was filled with heartfelt appreciation and a deep sense of connection to the legacy of the beloved scholar.

Mrs. Ajibero praised the Polytechnic’s Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, and the management for preserving her husband’s memory through this significant gesture.

She particularly commended the Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, for his outstanding achievements and commitment to the Polytechnic and appreciated his efforts in sustaining the meteoric rise of the Institution’s image and standard.

She described the recognition as a testament to her husband’s unwavering dedication to education and the Polytechnic’s growth. With emotion, she offered prayers for the continued success of the institution’s leadership.

Professor Usman said the decision by the Polytechnic’s Governing Council to name the library after Professor Ajibero, was to acknowledge his visionary leadership.

This , he said,include the establishment of the Department of Library and Information Science and the introduction of Mechatronics Engineering.

He emphasized that honoring Ajibero’s legacy was a small gesture in comparison to his monumental contributions.

The visit culminated in a ceremonial exchange of souvenirs, symbolizing the enduring bond between the Ajibero family and the Polytechnic, according to a statement signed by signed by

In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to honoring those who have contributed to its progress.

The Polytechnic Librarian, Mrs. Ozohu Omolola Mohammed Audu and Director, Academic Planning, Dr.Joel Akowe, also joined the Rector and Deputy Rector to receive the Ajibero family.
