The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has approved the deployment of 1,500 personnel and 25 patrol vehicles to support the Nov. 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Corps’ Public Education Officer (CPEO), Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Thursday in Abuja, and a copy made available to The Reporters.
The Corps Marshal said the deployment is aimed at ensuring the enforcement of movement restrictions and other electoral regulations during the election.
Malam Mohammed stated that the FRSC personnel would work in collaboration with other security agencies to monitor compliance with the restrictions on vehicular movement.
The directive also includes clearing road obstructions, carrying out emergency rescue operations, and maintaining order at polling stations.
“The Corps has made adequate arrangements, deploying operational tools such as 25 patrol vehicles, 7 tow trucks, and 6 ambulances to support the election process,” he said.
He urged the personnel to uphold professionalism and ensure that the rights of voters are not violated during their duties.
