The National Grid experienced a partial disturbance at approximately 1:52 p.m November 5,2024, affecting power supply across several states.
Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager for Public Affairs at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), explained that the disturbance resulted from a series of line and generator trippings, which caused instability in the grid.
In response to the power disruptions, TCN issued an apology to affected consumers, assuring them that engineers are actively working to restore bulk power supply to the impacted areas.
Similarly, Ikeja Electric, one of the country’s 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos), communicated the issue to its customers through a public notice.
The notice, released at 1:52 p.m., stated: “Dear Esteemed Customer, please be informed that we are currently experiencing a system outage, effective from 13:52 Hrs today, 5th November 2024, which is affecting supply within our network.
Restoration efforts are underway with our key stakeholders. We appreciate your patience.”
Despite these efforts, many Nigerian consumers are still left in the dark amid the ongoing blackouts.
