Dr. Yusuf John-Suberu Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has reiterated its dedication to supporting both national and regional initiatives aimed at reducing poverty in Nigeria.
During an entrepreneurial skills training session held for youths and teenagers in Abuja on Thursday, the foundation’s Executive Director, Dr. Yusuf Suberu, reaffirmed the organization’s focus on sustainable poverty alleviation programs.
Suberu shared the foundation’s vision of a world where people have the resources and opportunities to thrive, with its mission centered on empowering orphans, combating illiteracy, and protecting children. These efforts, he said, are critical to reducing poverty and fostering national peace and stability.
“Our focus is on sustainable programs, including vocational training and entrepreneurship initiatives,” Suberu said, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing poverty. “Empowering communities requires collaborative efforts.”
He highlighted the foundation’s strategic partnerships with state and non-state actors, offering innovative solutions and expert insights to combat pressing social issues. “Our initiatives focus on education, economic empowerment, and health. We are particularly committed to empowering youths and vulnerable populations, recognizing the devastating impact of poverty on individuals and communities,” he added.
Suberu noted that the foundation’s programs have impacted over 5,000 individuals in the past year, with plans to equip 500 more youths in the Federal Capital Territory with diverse skills to foster financial independence and self-employment.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap between marginalized youth and available resources, fostering transformative change,” he said, emphasizing the foundation’s partnerships with government agencies, international organizations, and local stakeholders to amplify its efforts.
Through targeted advocacy and stakeholder engagement, the foundation mobilizes public and private sectors, inspiring youth to contribute their expertise towards driving positive social change. “Our primary objective is to empower individuals across Nigeria and beyond, transcending geographical boundaries. We have started, and we will not relent,” Suberu assured.
Participants at the training praised the foundation’s ongoing efforts and urged for continued commitment to tackling Nigeria’s poverty challenges.
