Members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kogi State have expressed frustration over the deteriorating telecommunications services affecting subscribers across kogi state.
They have urged stakeholders to resolve the issues and restore reliable service without delay.
In a statement signed by their Chairman, Segun Salami and Secretary Abdulrahman Salihu,following an emergency meeting in Lokoja, the Chapel noted that residents have endured substandard services from major operators—MTN, Airtel, and Glo—for nearly a week.
The disruptions have impacted essential areas like information flow, public safety, healthcare, and business operations, the journalists observed.
They criticized the lack of communication from service providers,a development they said has left residents to rely on unverified rumors about possible disputes between operators and regulators.
“Subscribers in Kogi, like their peers elsewhere, are entitled to explanations from relevant stakeholders,” the statement read,” members of the chapel said.
Calling for an end to the service disruption, the correspondents emphasized the hardship faced by Nigerians, noting that the added frustrations from poor telecommunications services are “too much of a burden.”
The Chapel urged all parties involved to prioritize the public’s well-being and swiftly resolve the issues.
