Police in Ogun Investigate Suspected Suicide of Man Found Dead in Hotel Room.

The Ogun State The Police Command in Ogun state it has commenced investigation into the death of a 32-year-old man, identified as Lanre Ogungbe, found dead in a hotel room in the state state capital, Abeokuta.

SP. Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the command in the state, said that the sad incident happened incident at Soyoye on Thursday at around 2 p.m.

Odutola added that a bottle of an alcoholic drink known as “Lakoko” and a pesticide labeled “Sniper” were discovered beside the remains of Ogungbe in the room.

According to the police image maker, the hotel owner reported the incident to the Lafenwa Police Division, after the manager raised an alarm about a guest who had gone unresponsive.

The hotel receptionist, after noticing that Ogungbe had not left his room, checked in on him and found his lifeless body on the bed.

The area was secured, and police were promptly notified,the PPRO further revealed.

The command indicates that in their response to the report of the tragic incident, detectives who arrived at the scene, confirmed that there were no signs of violence on Ogungbe’s body.

She said that Ogungbe’s remains had been deposited at the General Hospital Ijaiye, where he was declared dead from where the body was sent to the morgue for a post-mortem examination, to determine the cause of death.

SP. Odutola stated that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
